Welcome to Learnerbyheart

My name is Kirstine, and I admit it: I’m addicted to learning. I have a natural drive to dig deeper into the topics that interest me. This blog is a way of sharing what I have found helpful and fascinating in my own life. If you find it interesting feel free to follow this blog.

I blog about:

Marriage and relationships. I’ve been married for seven years and I’m still learning. It’s one of my favorite learning experiences. We have made it a priority to work on our marriage to make it satisfying to live in, nice for people to be around and a place of growth for us and our child(ren). We’ve done that through a premarital course, tons of practice, books and seminars. A great challenge was to counsel other young couples before they got married.

Parenting. 2007 our son William was born. Afterwards it dawned on me that I had bought all the equipment, read all about giving birth and taken a preparation class - but I had no idea of how to raise this little man in my arms. It is my constant challenge to figure out how to deal with the latest sides of his development. How to encourage him? How to discipline him? How to potty train him? How to love him? How to teach him to have healthy relationships to his playmates? Not even to mention how to teach him to be a good brother when that becomes relevant.

Learning for a change. I’m finishing my masters in “Learning and the process of change” on Aalborg University in Denmark. This has opened my eyes to all the change that’s going on around us - willed by us and willed by others. My special interests are leadership, education, didactics and counseling. How we learn, and what makes us change.

Communication. Most of my interests revolve around communication. Teaching. Leadership. Relationships. Parenting. Writing. I challenge myself to be conscious about my communication. I try to observe what makes it work, why it sometimes goes wrong and how to improve the exchanges of information.

Attitudes to life. What moves me the most is people. When I hear a good story or encounter a spectacular person. Real life stories and real life attitudes. If you think about it, a lot of the changes in your life has probably been caused by a person. It can change your perspective to see life through someone else’s eyes.

People and their ways. Some of the best revelations are those who make me understand people better. Why do they do what they do? What makes them tick? How do they see life? Why don’t they change? Why do they change, when they do?

Awesome intro to you blog here! I really enjoy your thoughts about attitude towards life. It seem simple but can be great to learn how to make things easier!
